November Luncheon

Save the Date: November 8th

unnamedA lifelong resident of Kenosha, Nicole Thomsen is thrilled to commit her full-time work and passion towards the revitalization of Downtown Kenosha. With a unique background and unconventional way of finding herself in the business world, she is thrilled to take on the role of Executive Director of Downtown Kenosha Inc.

Nicole’s journey started at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she was accepted into the Nursing Endeavor Program, a program that guaranteed her a clinical seat come Junior year. While going to school full-time, Nicole worked as an OB-Tech assisting in C-sections and deliveries. Once Nicole began her clinical rotations she realized that Nursing wasn’t her passion. She knew a decision and a drastic change had to take place. That summer she interned at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin in the Community Engagement department. It was that summer that she found her passion lies in Community Impact and the Non-profit sector.

That Fall, Nicole enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Parkside pursuing her Bachelors of Science in Business Management.  At Parkside she interned with the Foundation working on fundraising and event planning. Later that year she received a job offer to work remotely for a non-profit tech company in Silicon Valley called One Degree. One Degree helps bridge the way out of poverty for low-income families by providing access to information on social services. From emergency shelters to a free meal, One Degree’s impact is inarguable as they begin to expand nationwide.  Also, during her time at Parkside, Nicole had the opportunity to compete in a National Sales Competition in New Jersey, bringing home first place for the university.

All of these unique experiences have helped shape Nicole as she takes on her new role striving to make a substantial impact in our Downtown Kenosha.
